The
Cape Sable Historical Society was formed in 1937 by a group
of concerned citizens. Their goals were to collect and preserve
all
documents, papers, and other objects of interest, which may serve to
throw light upon and illustrate the history of Shelburne
and Yarmouth
Counties; preserve historical sites and land marks; promote the study
of history of both counties. Today our goals
are much the same.
Visit
us at 2401, Hwy No. 3, Barrington, for genealogy research. We
have birth, death, marriage records, land grant records,
census information, cemetery records, information gleaned from the
newspapers of 1880's to 1970's. Research fees apply.
The Centre is open Wednesdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm during
the winter, and daily 9:30 am to 5:30 pm during tourist season
(June 1
- September 30).
