VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

Wayne Mullins: nominated by Barrington Ground Search and Rescue
Wayne has been a member of the Barrington Ground Search and Rescue Team since it was first formed in 1986. During that time he has served as secretary / treasurer, training officer and first aid instructor. Wayne has taken part in numerous lost person incidents throughout Shelburne County and also volunteered his services during the Swiss Air disaster in Peggy’s Cove in 1998.
In 2001, Wayne was certified to instruct for St. John’s Ambulance First Aid courses. He volunteers his time to instruct first aid training to high school students through a program known as Heart Smart. High school students are able to receive Emergency and Standard First Aid, free of charge, through this program.
Wayne is a member of the Shelburne County Fish and Game Association and served as secretary in 2001 / 2002.
