SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL

The meeting was called to order by the Deputy Warden at 9:00 p.m., in the Conference Room, in the Administrative Centre, in Barrington, N.S., with the following members present:
- Deputy Warden Eddie Nickerson
- Councillor Angus Atkinson
- Councillor Louise Halliday
- Councillor Dwayne Hunt
- Councillor Wayne Smith
- Brian Holland, Municipal Clerk
Absent was Warden Sterling Belliveau who was attending to other municipal business and Councillor Fred Bower.
CLOSED SESSION
Physician Recruitment
Moved by L. Halliday and seconded by A. Atkinson that the meeting enter into closed session pursuant to Section 22(2)(e) of the Municipal Government Act for the purpose of discussing a contract with a physician recruited to the community.
Having completed their discussion of a proposed agreement the Council Meeting returned to open session.
Moved by D. Hunt and seconded by W. Smith that Council approve a proposed agreement with a physician recruited to the community that has been recommended by the Community Health Care Advisory Committee.
Motion carried.
Moved by L Halliday and seconded by W. Smith that the Municipality provide funds for certain necessities for the physician recruited to the community and also provide two (2) to three (3) nights lodging in a local Bed & Breakfast.
Moved by A. Atkinson and seconded by D. Hunt that the previous motion be amended to insert the phrase "for a period of up to seven (7) days and not to exceed $1,000.00" and delete the phrase "and also provide two (2) to three (3) nights lodging in a local Bed & Breakfast".
Amendment carried.
The amended motion is now:
"The Municipality provide funds for certain necessities for the physician recruited to the community for a period of up to seven (7) days and not to exceed $1,000.00."
Motion carried.
