RECREATION COMPLEX

The Recreation Complex is located on Sherose Island.  It is comprised of a Recreation Centre, tennis court, children's playground and a regulation size ballfield.

Also within the complex are the following facilities:

 

Arena:  The arena facility has an official NHL size ice surface.  The ice is installed in August and removed in April of each year.  During the off-season, the facility is used for dances, concerts, wrestling and other special events.

Pool
(Closed for Season)



Municipal Pool: This facility is 82 feet long and 28 feet wide. The shallow end (20 x 28 feet) is only 2 1/2 feet deep. The pool then slopes down to a depth of 5 1/2 feet over the next 20 feet. The deep end (42x28 feet) is 5 1/2 feet deep. The pool is heated and a comfortable temperature will be maintained. Because of the depth of the pool, diving will not be taught or allowed. A complete schedule of instruction using the Red Cross system will be offered. This includes parent and tot, school age, adults, and lifesaving with the possibility of synchronized swimming and a swim team. There will also be recreational swim times for youth, teens, adults, and family. Pool rentals and private lessons will also be available where pool schedule permits.
 
 
 
Pool Rentals

The pool can be rented on an hourly basis at designated times throughout the summer. Please call 637-2903 (in May), and 637-2885 (in June, July and August) and ask for Aquatic Supervisor for more information.

Children's Birthday Parties Hold your child's birthday celebration at the Barrington Municipal Pool. This birthday party would include a one hour swim, 1 lifeguard and the use of aquatic toys. Maximum of 20. 

Cost: $40.63 per hour Pool Rental Fee  + $8.50 Lifeguard Fee + HST= $56.00.

Use of Recreation Centre Room - $23.00

If your group would like to swim after dark, or have a reunion or get-together at the pool, the facility is available for bookings throughout June, July, August.
Cost is dependent on the number of people attending the rental and the lifeguards required.

Cost: $40.63 per hour Pool Rental Fee  + $8.50 Lifeguard Fee + HST= $56.00. (1Guard)

Lifeguards- 

1-30 patrons - one lifeguard
31-60 patrons- two lifeguards
61-75 patrons- three lifeguards
76-100 patrons- four lifeguards 
Swimming Lesson Schedule
<>Session 1: July 3 - July 6 and July 9 - 13
Session 2: July 16 - 20 and July 23 - 27
Session 3: July 30 - August 3 and August 6 - 10
Session 4: August 13 - 17 and August 20 - 24
Session 5: August 27 -  August 31

Each session of swimming lessons will be comprised of 10 lessons offered at the same time Monday to Friday, except for Session 5 which will only be one week (5 lessons) and half of the cost of a result session price.

Swimming Lessons: 30 minute class $46.00/Session
Swimming Lessons: 45 minute class $57.00/Session


Private/Semi Private Lessons Private and semi-private lessons will be offered to those who wish to work with a swimming instructor on a non-group basis.

Cost- $12.00 per half hour 



 
 

Curling Rink:  This is a newly constructed facility and is operated by the Barrington Regional Curling Club.  The rink consists of 4 sheets of ice and a lounge area.

Walking Trail:  There is a 900 metre nature trail located at the end of the Arena parking lot.  The trail is approximately 3 feet wide and has a pea gravel base.

Recreation Centre: This facility is available for rental for dances, receptions, business meetings, etc. Contact the Recreation Director for more information at 637-2903.
