The Municipality of Barrington holds the annual Nova Scotia Marathon/Half Marathon and 10 Km. The marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
The date for the 2018 NS Marathon is: July 22nd

Municipality of Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada. The municipality is located on the southwest tip of Nova Scotia and has a population of approximately 6994. Fishing and retail are industries in our municipality. We welcome you to the Lobster Capital of Canada.
The marathon route is in a rural setting on a secondary road. The route contains some rolling hills, but is basically a flat route.
8:00 am on Sunday for full marathon, half marathon, and the 10 km,
4:00pm on Saturday for the 5 km
Sherose Island Recreation Centre, 27 Park Lane, Sherose Island, Barrington Passage.
Race Kits can be picked up July 21st 10:00am - 7:00pm and July 22nd 6:30am - 7:30am
We will be using bib chips this year, the bib chips can be picked up on Sat.(July 21st) 10am-7pm and on Race Day (July 22nd) 6:30am - 7:30am.
Pick up will be at the Sherose Island Recreation Centre - 27 Park Lane, Barrington
The full marathon was measured in 2007, using the Jones Counter Method. Certification #NS-2007-119-BDC.
The half marathon was measured in 2010. Certification #NS-2010-068-BDC.
The 10 k run is not a certified measured distance.
Every runner receives a performance (moisture wicking) t-shirt; register by May 31st to be guaranteed your shirt size.
Every runner receives a finishers medal.

Please note that after 350 registrations you will not be guarenteed to receive your swag at the event. It will be mailed after the event.
Aid Stations are located approximately every 3 kilometers throughout the course. Water, Gatorade, cut up oranges, chocolate bars, and first aid supplies are provided at each station.
Runners can place special drinks, gels, etc. in boxes for specific aid stations before the start of the race. The boxes are located at the registration area, there will be labels and markers available. These boxes will be picked up at 7:15am on race day in order to be delivered to the aid stations just before the race begins.

All Run Nova Scotia members recieve a $5 discount.
Change rooms, washrooms, showers and a warm up area available in the Barrington Municipal Arena and the Barrington Recreation Centre.
Results will be published after the race to Run Nova Scotia, municipal and recreation department websites, local newspaper, and radio stations. Full marathon results will be forwarded to the Boston Marathon organizers.
The awards will be presented and a reception will be held at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena, Sherose Island, at 12:30pm. Fish chowder and seafood chowder will be served, with pies & ice cream for dessert. Family and friends are welcome to attend the post race reception.

For those for whom this is their first ever organized Marathon, Half Marathon or 10 km run we have a commemorative mug for you.
We now have a limited number of campsites available by the start line!
Campsites are available for one night, July 21-22, and can be reserved by calling 902-637-2903 or during registration through Race Roster. There is a limit of 4 people per campsite. The campsite costs $20.

Traveling from Yarmouth – follow the Highway no. 103 to Barrington, take exit 30, follow Oak Park Road to Highway no. 3. At the stop sign, turn right. Follow the road to the Sherose Island sign. Turn left for Sherose Island. Drive less than 1 k and turn left (uphill) at the Recreation Complex sign.
Traveling from Halifax – follow the Highway no. 103 to Barrington, take exit 29, follow Highway no. 3 to the Sherose Island sign. Turn left of Sherose Island. Drive less than 1 k and turn left (uphill) at the Recreation Complex sign.
There will be a spagetti Supper, Saturday, July 21st, 6pm, at the Sandy Wicken memorial Arena, Donations welcomed.
