Junior Accountant
The Municipality of Barrington is now accepting applications for an experienced, enthusiastic, and career-minded person to fill the role of Junior Accountant.
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of corporate finance functions and tasks, including but not limited to the maintenance of the general ledger, reconciliations of bank accounts, monthly journal entries, audit preparation, HST returns and monthly financial reporting. The Junior Accountant will also assist the Director of Finance in performing tasks related to human resources management and serve as the primary support person for the Tax Clerk.

BY-LAW NO. 40 “A By-law Respecting the Maintenance and Improvement of Barrington Lake Road”
In accordance with Section 169 of the Municipal Government Act, notice is hereby given that the Barrington Municipal Council at their meeting held May 28, 2024, gave second and final reading to the adoption of By-law No. 40—A By-law Respecting the Maintenance and Improvement of Barrington Lake Road.
The by-law allows for changes to the “Charge Area” by removing the map and making changes to the Charge Area definition. The new definition requires the Association to provide a list of approved properties located in the “Charge Area”.
The by-law may be inspected at the Municipal Office located at 2447 Hwy 3, Barrington, N.S., between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. By-law No. 40—A By-law Respecting the Maintenance and improvement of Barrington Lake Road will become effective on the date of this publication.

NOTICE - Second Reading of By-Law No. 40 "A By-Law Respecting the Maintenance and Improvement of Barrington Lake Road"
Council is considering amendments to By-law No. 40 to allow for changes to the “Charge Area”. At present, properties in the Charge Area are identified on a map in the By-law. It is proposed that the By-law be amended by removing the map and making changes to the Charge Area definition. The new definition will require the Association to provide a list of approved properties located in the “Charge Area”. Proposed amendments may be inspected at the Municipal Office, located at 2447, Highway 3, Barrington, NS, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Any representation by interested persons concerning these amendments may be made at the May 28, 2024, Regular Council meeting, which will be held in the Council Chambers, in the Administrative Centre, Barrington, NS. This matter will be discussed at approximately 7:05 p.m.
Accessibility Advisory Committee Student Vacancy

The Terms of Reference for the AAC were recently amended to include a dedicated position for a student on the Committee.
At least one half of the committee’s membership must have a disability or represent an organization that represents people with disabilities. A disability includes a physical, mental intellectual, learning or sensory impairment including an episodic disability—that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders an individual’s full and effective participation in society.
The purpose of the AAC is to provide advice to Council on identifying, preventing and eliminating barriers to people with disabilities in municipal programs, services, initiatives and facilities.
Since this appointment is for a two year term a Grade 11 student would be preferred.
