As an immigrant, successful business owner, community volunteer and cancer-survivor Councillor George El-Jakl is passionate about addressing challenges that rural communities face including infrastructure and communication/broadband and healthcare access. George has been proudly serving the Woods Harbor/Shag harbor community in Barrington for 15 years.
George’s focus: harnessing the power of people. “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.” (African proverb). People working together using their diverse experiences and talents is a catalyst for the progress seen today. George is excited about bringing people together and lifting one another for continued progress towards a better community for current and future generations.
In his spare time, George is a volunteer firefighter with the Wood’s Harbour/Shag Harbour Volunteer Fire Department. George resides in Wood’s Harbour with his wife Hala, sons Anthony and Joud and daughter Layla who are his daily source of joy and inspiration.
