Accessiblity Plan Update

The Municipality is committed to creating an inclusive community where everyone—regardless of age or ability—can participate fully in community life. In 2022, we adopted our first Accessibility Plan, guided by Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Act. Since then, we have taken important steps such as:

  • Making sidewalks, boardwalks, and trails more accessible.
  • Renovating the Administrative Centre with accessible entrances, counters, and washrooms.
  • Supporting accessible equipment for recreation and accessible transit services.

Now, it’s time to update our plan for the next three years. This updated plan will highlight what has been accomplished, identify barriers that still exist, and outline new actions to continue moving toward our goal of a barrier-free Barrington by 2030.

We need your input! Your feedback will help us set priorities and ensure the plan reflects the needs of our community.

How to Participate:

  • Attend our public meeting to discuss the plan in person: Wednesday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Municipal Administrative Centre.
  • Complete the online survey at https://sprw.io/stt-xQf1D
  • Request a paper copy of the survey at the municipal office.
  • Share your feedback anytime by contacting our Accessibility Coordinator at

Together, we can build a more accessible and inclusive Barrington.
