Tourism Ambassador

Spend your summer as a Lobster Capital of Canada tourism ambassador! Unleash your creativity and help us promote the Municipality of Barrington! 

Our Tourism Ambassadors will help showcase the Municipality’s tourism assets and demonstrate how residents and visitors alike can visit Barrington & area safely as restrictions begin to ease. Our ambassadors will showcase our community to not only those who choose to visit this year but to those at home to encourage them to choose to visit us when the time is right for them. Ambassadors will be skilled communicators and content creators, with a strong sense of what makes social and digital media engaging. Our Tourism Ambassadors will also provide in-person travel information, counseling and assist with reservations within the region and the province.

Important Funding Announcement

On Friday, March 17, MLA Nolan Young will be joined by Colton LeBlanc and elected municipal officials to make an exciting funding announcement. Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.

The announcement will take place at 11:45 a.m. at the Barrington Recreation Centre and will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page.

Notice of Public Hearing

The Nova Scotia Utility Utility and Review Board is holding a public hearing on Tuesday May 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in our multipurpose room to consider our application to the Board, under section 369 of the MGA, to confirm the number of councillors to be elected and to alter the boundaries of the polling districts.

Those interested in speaking at the hearing musty notify the Board by Monday, April 24, 2023. Written comments can also be provided by sending a letter to the Clerk of the Board by Monday, April 24, 2023.

Audit Committee Vacancies

The Municipality of Barrington is accepting Expressions of Interest from individuals from the Municipality wishing to serve on the Audit Committee.   

There will be two (2) citizen vacancies on the Committee, effective April 2023.

The Committee oversees the external audit of the Municipality’s financial statements and the resolution of audit findings.The Committee also reviews internal controls, accounting systems, and risk management.
Appointments will be for a two (2) year term.

Organizations requesting financial assistance through Municipal Grants must complete the required application and forward it to the Municipal Office.
